Gosh, I can hardly wait to see how Takumi Yanai tops this in future volumes. (He fails to take her up on it before dying.) Like having Rory sarcastically offering the last of the bandits she has otherwise exterminated the opportunity for a little necrophilia with a couple of naked victims before she kills him. Granted, I've never seen much of the rest of the manga, but I have heard stories about it, and I have read this volume, which combines looking less attractive with some very much harsher story elements. What could possibly be wrong with that, the world wonders? Volume 1 runs about the equivalent of the first 5 episodes of the TV show, which means that the absolute nadir of the series, in which armed commandos from the United States, Russia, and Communist China are completely wiped out by the Japanese while their government is dusting off plans for reviving the Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere and growing nostalgic for the good old days of the Rising Sun would occur at either the end of Volume 2 or the beginning of Volume 3. More like somebody had fewer brains than I expected, and presumably absolutely FREAKED when they realized what they had started messing with. Somebody had more guts than I expected! Then, I noticed the dates involved: the first volume published in May of 2016, the second volume supposedly translated but never actually published.
After watching the anime, which is available in Blu-ray, DVD, and Premium editions, I didn't think there was any chance that the allegedly more extremely nationalistic and anti-American comic books and, especially, light novels would ever be translated into English and published so I was rather stunned to come across this translated manga version.
